Privacy Policy

Last updated: 26 Aug 2026

C-chat handles business information, customer messages, and personal data. This policy explains what we collect, why, how it is stored and shared, how long we keep it, and your rights.

Information we collect

Name, email, and phone; your business profile, products, services, and shop policies; your customers' names, numbers, and messages; WhatsApp connection details; authentication data (via Clerk); payment events through our payment provider (we never store card details); and technical data such as IP address, browser, logs, and cookies.

Purposes

We use this information to run your account, provide the service, connect WhatsApp, generate AI replies, keep your inbox and catalog, process subscription payments, keep the platform secure, and communicate with you.

AI processing

Only the messages and business facts needed for a reply are sent to our AI provider. We do not use your data to train public models.

Storage and security

Your data is stored in our hosted production database and is accessible only to your authenticated business account. We apply access controls and limit internal access to what is needed to operate the service.

Sharing

We do not sell your data. We share it only with the processors needed to run the service — hosting, database, Clerk (authentication), payments, AI, and WhatsApp — and only as required.

Retention

We keep your data while your account is active and for a reasonable period afterwards to meet legal and operational needs. You may request deletion of your data at any time (see Your rights). Our detailed retention schedule is being finalized — contact us if you need specifics before it is published.

Your rights (PDPA 2022, Tanzania)

You have the right to access, correct, and delete your data, to withdraw consent, to object to processing, and to complain to the authorities. Contact: chrispinmatiko@gmail.com.
